Gruene, Texas

If you are ever in Texas travelling up 35 a little north of San Antonio you must check out Gruene, Texas. Gruene is a little historic town with lots of character.

You can get your olde time pictures taken there or stay at the local B &B.

You can check out the old General store or come on one of the weekends when they have Market Days.

You can hit up the Gruene Hall for some good music. The day we were there Ricky Skaggs was playing. The Gruene Hall is the oldest dance hall in Texas.

Or you can head to the Gristmill for some good food. That was our objective.

Amazing how little ones get mesmerized by electronics.

We stayed until the restaurant closed. Beyond that fence is the Guadalupe River. There you can enjoy rafting, tubing and swimming. We hope to make it there before we leave Texas this summer.

The Gristmill has outside eating along the river. I have never seen it empty before.

If you come in the winter they will have the fireplaces going.

When you leave the Gristmill you will be stuffed and you can see why it is called the Gristmill.
